LDS TEMPLE, LAS VEGAS
This project consisted of a 31' tall by 7' wide area of brilliant cut glass with a background of gluechip and sandblasted gluechip. There is a large brilliant cut mandala at the top, carved in 5' diameter, 3/4" thick glass. A custom lighting system was developed that consisted of brushed stainless steel in a parabolic arc as a backdrop. The lights were placed behind the horizontal mullions to reflect off the back metal giving a specular and diffused light, creating prisms in the cut glass. Twelve ovals with cut glass stars were also created for the exterior windows.
